It is believed that on this day, the river Narmada originated from the place named Amarkantak in the state of Madhya Pradesh. On this particular day, Goddess Narmada came into existence on earth, and celebrating it brings peace and prosperity to the lives of the devotees. The day is also known as Narmada Jayanti.
